In December 1943, the Center of Ecclesiastical Studies of the Priestly Society of the Holy Cross was set up. In this institution, Álvaro del Portillo continued the ecclesiastical instruction he had begun as an external student in the Seminary of Madrid. This paper takes a look at the personalities of the teachers of the first faculty of this academic center offering a summary of their biographies and academic careers, their presence in the academic circles of that time, intellectual orientations and publications. It also determines how each of them came into contact with Saint Josemaría and the relationship they had with Opus Dei.

Algunos aspectos del trabajo de Álvaro del Portillo como secretario de la Comisión conciliar De Disciplina Cleri et Populi Christiani, Manuel Valdés Mas (pp. 57-100)
During Vatican Council II, Blessed Alvaro del Portillo was the Secretary of the Commission for the Discipline of the Clergy and of the Christian People. He was also Consultor for other conciliar Commissions. Having started his service to the Holy See in 1947, Del Portillo was also a member of various pre- preparatory commissions of the conciliar assembly. This article analyzes how Del Portillo carried out his task as head of the conciliar Commission De Disciplina Cleri et Populi Christiani. It also evaluates his intellectual contribution through the commission and through his works to the final redaction of the Decree Presbyterorum Ordinis.

The dedication of Josemaría Escrivá de Balaguer to preaching Spiritual Exercises and Retreats to Diocesan Clergy is almost completely centered on the period ranging from 1938 to 1942. In order to study this activity, use is made of the preaching outlines used as well as the numerous written testimonies of those who listened to the preaching. Commencing with a critical analysis of these documents, the objective is to establish the sources, structure and basic content of the preaching in addition to the most characteristic features.
