El presente artículo tiene dos objetivos. El primero es explicar la situación de la educación universitaria femenina en España en el primer tercio del siglo XX. El segundo, investigar de dónde procede la frase «ellas no hace falta que sean sabias: basta que sean discretas», que no es original de san Josemaría. Ambas cuestiones pueden aportar información interesante para situar en su contexto histórico el punto 946 de Camino.

The aim of this article is twofold: first, to describe the situation of women’s university education in Spain in the first part of the 20th Century; and second, to investigate the origin of the phrase «women needn’t be scholars: it’s enough for them to be prudent», which was not invented by St. Josemaría. Both topics are relevant in situating point 946 of The Way in its historical context.
