The St. Josemaría Escrivá Historical Institute is an academic
center that aims to promote historical studies on Opus Dei and its founder, as well as other research on aspects of the spirit, teachings and apostolate promoted by St. Josemaría.

Change in the management of “Studia et Documenta”
Starting on the 1st of January, 2012, the Institute will be directly in charge of the editorial management of the journal which was, up to now, the responsibility of EDUSC S.r.l, the publisher responsible for the publications of the Pontificia Università della Santa Croce.
Going forward, therefore, all administrative matters related to the subscriptions to “Studia et Documenta” will be the responsibility of the Historical Institute. The new subscription page is www.studiaetdocumenta.org which includes new features and possibilities.
With grateful thanks to our subscribers and readers for the interest they have shown during all these years, we are confident that this change will allow us to offer you an improved service and greater attention.


The fifth issue of Studia et Documenta has been published The premiere of the latest film by Roland Joffé, There Be Dragons is attracting an ever increasing interest in the life and history of Josemaría Escrivá de Balaguer, the founder of Opus Dei. One of the characters that appears with Escrivá in this film is "Juan" (Juan Jiménez Vargas), a young an energetic doctor who accompanied him in times that were very difficult, while escaping the religious persecution during the Spanish civil war.
